The mighty Mazbou Q has hit the ground running in 2021 with a string of killer singles, including his latest, G.O.A.T Problems featuring Raiza Biza.
A bold and defiant statement which combines the talents of two of Aotearoa’s leading hip-hop acts, G.O.A.T Problems is intended as an indictment of society’s ‘hype train’ mentality. “The crux of the message is captured by the
main line of the hook, ‘If you ain’t with it now, then don’t call us, we gon’ be dealing with G.O.A.T Problems. As in, when we blow up, we will be too busy dealing with the many problems associated with being G.O.A.Ts (Greatest Of All Time) to worry
about offers and deals that should have come to us earlier on,” explains Mazbou Q (Hugh Ozumba).
A high-energy, fast-paced track with a UK drill style beat, G.O.A.T Problems was produced, mixed and
mastered by Mazbou Q himself.
They’ve also just dropped a video for the track. Watch it HERE
Helping to bring the song to life, is a video produced by Tom Grut. “It tells the story of Raiza and I as actual goat dealers, as a play on words. In the video, we are
mafiosi type dons looking for a prized goat (instead of say, drugs). Our henchmen aren’t able to do the job, so frustratedly take the job into our own hands. Chaos ensues, but eventually we finally locate it.”
Mazbou Q is a UK-born,
Tamaki Makaurau-based rapper and producer. His unique musical background of golden-age hip-hop, West African highlife and heavy metal forms the backdrop for his non-formulaic style of hip-hop inspired by the likes of Fela Kuti, The Rotos and Oddisee.
He frequently confronts his listeners with an unapologetic style of socio-political commentary.
Rwandan-Kiwi rapper Raiza Biza has hustled a name for himself; built on relentless hard work, passion and perseverance. Building
from the ground up, he has generated a worldwide following that has supported over five albums, and collaborations with Black Milk, REMI,Melodownz,Illbaz,Estere and countless other
talents.
Mazbou Q will be performing live with his band at Auckland's Neck of the Woods on Friday, May 7. He'll perform alongside a line-up of some of Aotearoa’s finest afrocentric artists
and DJs. Get tickets here.
