After a successful run of releases – Boing Flip on the Boat reaching 10k views and Sniffly Lady hitting 3k streams on Spotify, Revulva are ready to release something a little different on the 14th of May. Tuning Out is a seven and half minute story of losing your mind at a party out of social fear; and the track does not shy away from coercing you to experience exactly what this feels like.
Revulva are a family of eight and it is their mission to bring huge grins to your knees on the d-floor. Nu-wave, nu-jazz, nu-pop goodness served up hot by Phoebe Johnson (Ski Resort), Lily Rose Shaw (Odessa), Hector McLachlan (Forest Music), Zane Hawkins (Sky Canvas), Toby Leman (Hummucide), Hugo Olsen-Smith (Hummucide), Hayden Richardson (Dr.Reknaw) and Olivia Campion (Yumi Zouma).
A week before its drop, Revulva are planning to celebrate with their brother band Hummucide for a dual single release jubilee at Parrotdog Brewery in Lyall Bay. The band of eight are gaining a reputation as big party throwers, goers, and blowers with a line out the door for their last single release party at San Fran earlier in the year. You are cordially invited to join the party on the 7th of May – 10pm sharp. The dual single jubilee will be preceded by a back-to-back appearance of esteemed DJs Big ‘Lil and Cool Hec.
Their live sound is an exciting, theatrical, and an all encompassing bodily experience. Revulva are not afraid to use their weapons of a powerful horn section (Leman, Shaw, Olsen-Smith, and Richardson), an impossibly groovy rhythm section (Hawkins, McLachlan, and Campion) and dramatic performance from the band’s leader, vocalist and bass player, Phoebe Johnson.
Mixed by Toby Lloyd from Tiny Triumph Recordings and mastered by Chris Chetland this track has been cared for by some of New Zealand’s finest. You can anticipate a larger body of work to appear from Revulva before the end of the year.
