Being successful in the New Zealand music industry requires more than just great songs, engaging talent and stunning live performances. In order for a band to break into the industry it has to have support from the media. A song needs radio play, a video to screen on television and attention from the music press.
Satellite Media Group, M2 and Jim Beam are committed to New Zealand music but playing music videos is not enough.
Satellite, M2 and Jim Beam have come up with a plan to help foster our local talent and help them get the support and interest they deserve.
The JBVS will offer four bands/artists a year their own music video for FREE.
If you are in a band or a solo artist that is unsigned, have a killer song, are actively gigging and feel that you're ready to perform in front of a camera, then send your bio and demo tape to:
Jim Beam Video Scheme.
Satellite Media Group.
PO BOX 10218.
Dominion Rd.
Auckland.
Entries for this first round must be in by May 20th. Our judging panel is made up of music industry professionals and the winner will be announced on May 24th.
There are four rounds in the Jim Beam Video Scheme and you can enter each round unless you have received a JBVS grant within the last 6 months.
Jim Beam and Satellite Media Group are contributing $10,000 worth of video production towards each winning video. The video will debut on m2, but once it has debuted, a copy of the video will be handed over to the band/artist to be played across all television channels and shows.
