“Raw vocal strength and stunning high notes give a boost into another dimension, where the listener could be floating on a cloud, bathing in a pool of sunshine and you’d absolutely believe it until the last bar” - Muzic.net.nz on Set Me Free
“Her vocal performance is sublime; she sings with so much power” – Lefuturewave on I’m Doing Fine
Following a brief hiatus, Auckland based indie-pop artist Kaela is back with a vengeance – offering a gritty, powerful new track that holds nothing back. Ethereal as ever, her single Obsessions is a testimony to her own mental strength. Battling with OCD since a young age, the singer-songwriter hits back at the debilitating disorder with this powerhouse of a track.
“I believe it is important to be open about these things. To discuss them and to break the stigma. I’m not ashamed of who I am, and I hope this track serves as a sense of comfort to anyone who might be experiencing similar things. Or simply, get up and have a boogie!” – Kaela
Unapologetic in her approach, Kaela backs her narrative with a strong pop beat, tight harmonies, and crisp production in this dark electro-pop number.
Obsessions was written in her bedroom, produced by local talent / producer Sophie Bialostocki (Levyne) at Parachute Studios and mastered by Chris Chetland of Kog Studios
It is the first single off her debut body of work due late 2021, backed in part by NZ on Air’s development funding with iconic New Zealand producer Wayne Bell.
Obsessions by Kaela now available on all major streaming platforms.
