Eyegum Music Collective announces the first of what will be a regular tour series. ‘Eyegum Scenic Tours’ will be showcasing the vast array of local talent the collective works with and taking them throughout Aotearoa.
Eyegum Scenic Tours will regularly take two up and coming bands across the country to showcase their talent alongside the best local support bands. To kick off the scenic tours this July Eyegum announces Wiri Donna and Dale Kerrigan as the first two bands to hit the road.
Eyegum Music Collective Co-Curator Joel Cosgrove says, “we’re really excited to finally be taking two of our favourite local artists on the road with us. As Welcome to Nowhere and Eyegum Wednesdays continue to spark opportunities for emerging artists we can’t wait to begin touring these artists nationally.”
"Dinky riff-rock" darling, Wiri Donna began in 2020 with the release of her 2 track solo EP Sprouts. Quickly transforming post lockdown into a "rawkus" live show with her band. Immediately becoming the go to support band for tour acts such as Mild Orange and Soaked Oats, alongside key slots at Welcome to Nowhere Festival, CubaDupa and Newtown Fest.
Her mix & match songwriting style blurs the lines of folk rooted songwriting and the grittier elements of Bianca Bailey’s previous projects (O-Boy!, SOG).
The 2nd band to burst out of the corpse of legendary Dunedin band Marry Berry. Dale Kerrigan arrived seemingly fully formed, already gaining a fearsome live reputation.
With a debut album recorded by the ubiquitous Zac Nicolls, it won’t be long before the name Dale Kerrigan is on everyone’s lips...
