Elemental Nights - Full Line-up Announced

21 June 2021 - 0 Comments

Live Nation in partnership with Auckland Unlimited, presents Elemental Nights this July as part of Elemental AKL.

Elemental Nights can now confirm a third artist announcement including the highly anticipated performance by internationally lauded artist Dope Lemon.

Slinking out of the silky darkness of the midnight hour towards the blissed out champagne pinks and purples of twilight, in 2021 Angus Stone returns with his beloved, intrepid Dope Lemon project performing a headline show in the Great Hall at Auckland’s iconic Town Hall on Friday, July 23.

Following previous critically acclaimed albums - Smooth Big Cat (2019) and Honey Bones (2016) - singer/songwriter and accomplished multi-instrumentalist Stone releases his first new single for 2021 Rose Pink Cadillac.

Rose Pink Cadillac – a tone-setting jaunt that immediately delineates this as a new era of Dope Lemon – romance oozes from this record. Like a 60’s soul standard, Rose Pink Cadillac strikes the balance between specificity and universality perfectly, undeniably a romantic classic for everyone.

Since its release late May, Rose Pink Cadillac has already accumulated over 1 million streams across YouTube and Spotify, debuting at #16 on the New Zealand singles chart.

Dope Lemon last performed their signature mellow sounds to a sell-out crowd in Auckland in August 2019, devotees and new followers will not want to miss this special one-off show.

Rounding out the exciting line-up for Elemental Nights 2021 and joining Dope Lemon are special guests Mild Orange.

Thanks to the Covid effect, NZ’s own worldly indie-pop band, Mild Orange, have graced the home stage instead of planned US ventures and a return to Europe. Mild Orange’s 2018 debut album Foreplay has amassed near 100 million streams globally and their breakout single Some Feeling has had over 22 million views on YouTube. Proving that they’re no one-hit-wonder, their second album spawned the popular single Freak In Me amongst other groovers. A third album is on the way following retreats to scenic getaway spots.

Catacombs by Friendly Potential is thrilled to confirm a third night of awesome club music at the Wintergarden on Thursday, July 22 with visionary electronica duo HTRK, aka Jonnine Standish and Nigel Yang, bringing their live show to New Zealand for the first time this July.

Since 2003, HTRK have blazed a sprawling musical trail. Their early live shows caught the attention of ex-Birthday Party guitarist Rowland S. Howard, who went on to produce their now classic debut Marry Me Tonight. Since then, they have scored films and headlined sold-out tours. In this rare live performance, audiences will enter the depths of the Wintergarden and immerse themselves in HTRK’s sound universe, where Jonnine’s vocals carve through cavernous dub reverberations, mixed with frosted post-punk motifs and the gravelly imperfections of industrial.

Tickets to the newly announced shows will go on sale from Tuesday, June 22 through elementalfestival.co.nz & livenation.co.nz - please see specific show on-sale information below.

Australian artist Courtney Barnett is a self-professed fan of Aotearoa and Kiwi’s just love her renowned on-stage banter and raw and personal songs. This will be Barnett’s only Auckland performance on her sold-out National solo tour.

Punk rock band The Chats dial things up a notch with their signature sound they dub ‘shed rock’. Their single Smoko has had in excess of 13 million views on YouTube and attracted the attention of rock royalty Dave Grohl, Josh Homme and Iggy Pop, the latter two artists booking the Queensland 3 piece to open for them on their Australian tours.

Inimitable New Zealand born, worldly artist Connan Mockasin returns to the stage for a very special show – ‘Connan Mockasin Unplugged, Bost'n 'n Dobs'n Plugged’ which includes a screening of his never before seen, critically unclaimed, made for daytime TV show, ‘Bost’n ‘n Dobs’n’.

Designed, produced and promoted by Live Nation, whether you care to croon in unison, rock your heart out or dance vigorously, these one-off special shows should not be missed.

Live Nation New Zealand Managing Director Mark Kneebone said, “After the success of last year’s inaugural Elemental Nights, we are pleased to be able to create another spectacular line-up this year featuring international artists and a special ode to New Zealand music industry royalty, Flying Nun. We are proud to partner with Auckland Unlimited on this venture as we all work to create rich live experiences for audiences.”
