NZ Music Month Highlights - Week 3

14 May 2007 - 0 Comments

It is Monday 14th of May - Day #14 of NZ Music Month 2007!

Kiwis’ love affair of local music continued during the first week of NZ Music Month, with sales of albums by NZ artists up nearly 30%! Hayley Westenra held her spot at #1 on the Official NZ Top 40 Albums, extending her substantial lead over the nearest competition, while new records by Adi Dick and 48May entered the chart. Radio airplay was up as well, helped by the fact that Kiwi artists took out the top three spots on the RadioScope100 with the most-played songs on our airwaves last week - ‘Maybe’ by OpShop, ‘Shadowfeet’ by Brooke Fraser and ‘Crawl’ by Atlas heading off all international rivals. Meanwhile new songs by local artists with already proven radio track records – ‘Albertine’ by Brooke Fraser, ‘Never Let You Go’ by Evermore and ‘Nothing's More Real’ by The Feelers - all make their debut on the RadioScope NZL Top 40. On the RadioScope Alternative Chart, the bNet radio stations continue their love affair with The Brunettes who notch up their fourth week at #1 with new single ‘Her Hairagami Set.’

So the month is off to a great start! And today is a big day for local releases. Out today is Pine ‘Twelve Hour Collision EP,’ Fur Patrol ‘Long Distance Runner,’ The Managers ‘Take It or Leave It’ and Lindon Puffin ‘Show Pony’.
