Auckland-based funk/nu disco artist La Felix has unveiled his charismatic new single, My Kinda Love, out today.
Listen to the single HERE
My Kinda Love is a track rooted in jazz-inspired piano riffs, funk-filled bass lines, with an infectious chorus melody drenched in hooks. Lyrically, the feel-good tune is universal in its theme of attraction. As La Felix - AKA Felix - says, it’s “a song about going out on your usual day and meeting a girl who’s just absolutely perfect”.
Produced by La Felix, Rynjae and Danny McMillan joined him on the songwriting team for the single.
Today’s release follows Felix’s first major single, Delicious, which has surpassed 4M streams across all platforms and even landed a spot on Netflix’s 'Insatiable' S01E01. Continuing off the success of Delicious, La Felix has since amassed over 20M streams across all platforms thanks to his growing popularity as a remixer and his successful singles Comes & Goes, I Wanna Know and Real Thing.
Currently based in Auckland, La Felix grew up with a more unusual way of discovering new music for the current times, as unlike most millennials, music was not readily available to him on the internet. Instead, Felix was a “crate digger”, experiencing new music by sifting through his Mother’s huge vinyl collection. Vinyls ranging from the Jazz and Blues eras, to the Classical, Baroque, and Romantic periods captivated his creativity, influencing the unique genre-melding melody-writing of his style today.
With more collab releases to come, including one with Taura Lamb from the UK, and Todd Carey from US, there’s lots to come from this exciting artist. Keep an ear out!
