Monkey Puzzle are currently working on finishing a new album, which the band describe in up-front terms as "going back to our harder edge roots and ditching a lot of the ska crap that we got into playing. No offense to the wicked sick ska bands we've played with, it's just that when we play ska ... it's crap". The album, to be entitled 'Turn Down The Shit Knob' is to be a 'best of', featuring new songs, live tracks and other material.
In related news, a Monkey Puzzle side project, featuring the MP bassist and singer/guitarist is in the process of starting up. No name has been given to this band as yet, but the current thinking is around the name The Sideburner, with the band being a full-on harcore group.
Wellington punkers The Minimals are currently looking at creating their first ever bona fide recordings, after gigs over the past year or so in Palmerston North and Wellington (including an apperance at Punkfest 01). The band are recording an as-yet-unamed EP, heading into the studio in May. No release date for hte project has yet been set.
