Tristan Cordelia is chuffed to announce the release of her EP, Time Will Ruin Everything, available from all major streaming and download sites on 10 September 2021.
Tristan Cordelia is a Wellington singer/songwriter/musician who sings like Johnny Cash, plays like 90's alt rock never went out of style, and dresses like Sporty Spice after a week at Burning Man. She has been quietly performing her songs of self-deprecation and morbid humour around the city’s bars for much of the last decade, and now sends them out to a wider audience.
Her debut EP Time Will Ruin Everything is a gothic country rock record consisting of four original songs, performed on acoustic guitar, bass and djembe drum. The title track – and lead single – is a driving rhythmic piece about laying waste to your own life and relationships. The second track Don’t Touch the People is a quieter rumination on the failure of humanity, backed by a wall of droning sub-bass. I Will Cheat On You, the record’s third track, is exactly what it says on the box. EP closer Bloomsday is a collaboration between the artist and the ghost of James Joyce; fearing that “kids these days” don’t have the attention span to devour his magnum opus, Mr Joyce appeared to Tristan Cordelia from the bottom of her glass of beer and commissioned this two-minute pop song.
