31 August 2021 - 0 Comments
Fat Freddy’s Drop Wairunga Album Release Tour in September is being postponed due to COVID-19.
Fat Freddy's Drop and their tour promoter are working hard on rescheduling their national tour and new dates will be announced for Christchurch, Dunedin, Nelson, Wellington, Auckland and Hamilton shows with all ticket holders being updated as soon as possible. The band has asked that ticket holders please retain their original tickets to gain entry to the new show dates.
“We’ve been philosophical about the tour situation up to now and like everybody we’re trying to soldier on despite the financial implications. The most fun thing about being in this band is playing live so it will be great to get back to that when we can, hold tight” DJ Fitchie aka MU has said.
Fat Freddy’s Drop latest album Wairunga was released Friday 20th August.
Wairunga bush-alchemy album is a boil-up of cosmic vibes, Afro-Acid beats, hot buttered soul, righteous reggae, subterranean bass and twisted up melodies recorded outdoors sans audience at the mercy of the elements.
Five new tracks emerged, Coffee Black, Shady, Bush Telegraph, Leave Your Window Open and Dig Deep and the band reworked two classics Bones and Wairunga.
It’s a fitting tribute to Wairunga deep in Ngati Kahungunu country, a friends home that the band has roamed for over two decades and the inspiration for the original Wairunga Blues track on the Bays album. A concert film of the recording has been released online, offering a close-up perspective of the band at work.
