Strange Fruits exposes InDuna's vulnerability as he recounts his experiences of being bullied, feeling ashamed and fighting insecurities. Recording the single had him relive his past, haunted by the feelings and emotions that were kept hidden away. The track's title takes inspiration from the lyrical content of Kanye West's Blood On The Leaves and Nina Simone's Strange Fruit, though its meaning is much different.
The term Strange Fruits refers to people InDuna has had negative encounters with throughout his life. Through acknowledging them in this single, he hopes to provoke listeners to consider their own experiences where they've been most vulnerable and bring them to light.
"The song brought up a lot for me. But there were things I felt I was finally ready to let go of and start anew. As painful as it was for me, I felt a sense of responsibility to speak out and encourage - whether it's my friends or anyone listening. To make this time of conversation something that is completely okay to talk about and something we should really start discussion more." - InDuna
Set to be released on September 17, 2021, Strange Fruits will be available on all streaming platforms. Catch this new single and many others on his upcoming EP, releasing in early 2022.
