Ngāneko releases her waiata reo Māori 'Te Kawa o Rongo'

14 September 2021 - 0 Comments

The latest release by Ngāneko called 'Te Kawa o Rongo' translates to "The Protocol of Peace". This song celebrates the proverbs and teachings given by Taranaki prophets Te Whiti o Rongomai, Tohu Kākahi and Te Ua Haumēne. Ngāneko says “We should invest into learning our history or to find future solutions within our traditions”

While composing the waiata Ngāneko (Te Ātiawa, Taranaki iwi, Ngāpuhi, Ngāti Tūkorehe) says: “It’s hard to access Waiata with Taranaki Dialect and Taranaki Kaupapa. They do exist, but only a handful is catered and supplied. But there is a real need for Waiata with Taranaki Dialect therefore to know Taranaki people is to know Te Kawa o Rongo “The Protocols of Peace” which ignites the hope that when listeners near or far hear the waiata, they feel our Tau’eke Mounga and the love he provides”.
