Kiwi singer-songwriter PRINS returns with Midnight Calling, an infectious dance-pop tune evocative of late nights, flowing drinks, and bad decisions.
This year Alannah Prins has carved out her corner in Aotearoa's flourishing music scene, cementing her status as Christchurch's resident pop princess with her string of catchy club anthems and trademark dance-floor-ready formula.
With its hypnotic beat and driving kick, PRINS' signature Saturday night sound once again strikes gold with Midnight Calling, a grooving, bass-laden track with hints of 80's nostalgia. A rolling snare builds to a smattering of atmospheric drums before releasing into a throbbing drop and pulsing pitch bend sure to shake the crowd.
Midnight Calling is the latest in a string of hits for the Christchurch-based artist, who launched into 2021 with the release of Follow Me, which hit number eight on the Hot New Zealand Singles Chart. Basic Bitch followed, another installment of PRINS' unique brand of electro-pop. After hitting the summer festival circuit and performing a series of gigs throughout the year, PRINS is set to return to the stage on December 4 for the Wine & Food Festival at Christchurch's Hagley Park, alongside an all-star line-up including The Feelers and Kaylee Bell. Due to the ongoing outbreak of COVID-19, PRINS’ 20 date nationwide tour has unfortunately been cancelled, but South Islanders can still catch the pop powerhouse in Timaru, Dunedin, and Christchurch next month.
