A blissfully warm and uplifting indie pop tune, Golden Hours came to life when Saski reconnected with two high school friends, who like her, had also gone on to pursue music.
“We were talking about how we’d all moved around, living in different countries and how there’s always those people that stay in your corner no matter what,” Saski says.
“It was a summer's day and although studios are particularly dark, this one had a little door that opened to someone's shared tiny art studio. One evening we opened the door, and it was the best sunset streaming through, which we would have missed if we hadn’t stopped to take a break. It was in this moment of inspiration that started the song. It was pretty magic.”
Golden Hours is accompanied by a gorgeous video, which perfectly conveys the sentiment of the song. “The projection of the Super 8 footage shows a golden hour that looks to almost be real in the studio, but the shadows remind you it’s just a fragment of being in the real moment,” explains Saski.
This is the second single from Saski’s upcoming EP, which will be out in early 2022. It follows the first track Pretty Little Island which reached #5 on the NZ Hot 20 Chart and top 100 Radioscope all airplay chart (#72) with support from ZM, The Edge, More FM and The Hits.
After travelling the globe and primarily being based in the US, Saski is now based back in New Zealand. She’s had an impressive string of releases leading up to her debut EP. They include the singles Faking Bright, Set Fire and Independent, which garnered attention from the likes of Pigeons & Planes, Beats 1, Coup de Main, Hype Machine and Hillydilly.
Saski’s upcoming debut EP is full of rich soundscapes and dreamy vibes. Stay tuned!
