With a kaleidoscope of Aotearoa’s most mesmerising electronic talent, comes a complete re-imagining of Imugi이무기’s stunning 2020 release, Dragonfruit EP.
Dragonfruit: Remixed is chopped and screwed by bold hybrid house, experimental electronic, and melodic techno. With the help of: Alexa Casino, Leaping Tiger, SWRLY, Amamelia, KÉDU CARLÖ, Borrowed CS and Dera Meelan, the remixes deliver a booming dance-floor atmosphere.
Enlisting a funky and fresh line-up of incredible artists/friends, creates a new landscape of sounds and flavours. “Every artist we have on the album are those we admire in our community, throughout the years we have played shows with them, collaborated and been inspired,” says producer and writer Carl Ruwhiu.
Flipping the tarot deck comes a new seven track reading, expressing and exploring new vibes through the cosmic rainforest of the Dragonfruit realm. Described lovingly by vocalist and writer Yery Cho as “a whole EP where our Dragonfruit EP gets flipped, tossed and mixed into a giant fruit salad!”
First to arrive to this summer’s electro-house party was Dera Meelan’s remix of Imugi이무기 and Church & AP’s 2020 collab Y U Always Acting Like A Fool?. Now join the Late Night Sesh with Imugi and Amamelia for Somebody Else (Amamelia Night Drive Remix).
Shortly after appearing in this year’s stellar remix collaboration of Tāmaki Makaurau electronic artist Amamelia’s dazzling debut album Wow!, Imugi 이무기 bring another full circle moment with Amamelia’s infectiously groovy re-imagining of their dreamy 2020 single Somebody Else.

Impossible to encapsulate in one sound or genre, but rather an expansive and explorative project within digital sonics moments, Amamelia aka Amelia Berry is widely known and loved for her impact and work in Fimo, Babyteeth, Polyester, Van Staden & Böhm and more.
Amamelia pulls up with a guitar-driven melody, smooth with a sunset-to-night-time nostalgia that has you grooving along in the passenger’s seat. Jungle breaks with a sweet edge of electronic synth pop dance with aural street lights.
Inspired by their surrounding community of talented electronic artists, the duo follow in Amamelia’s 2-step of recruiting the freshest and most talented electronic acts who influence and inspire them.
“Having the honour to remix Operator PLZ! was such an fun and world-building experience.” says vocalist and writer Yery Cho. “To be included amongst those we look up to and hold so much respect for, to work on a project by Amelia who we love and admire is so special. We feel like we always emulate the artists we love, what’s better than collabs?”
Another killer remix that came together via blessed alignment and some luck, is the reimagined Bonus Track Swimming, cooked up by songwriter-producer Nate Fox, UK garage wizard Sushi Ceej vs Cee and Canadian beat-maker The Kount. This version of Swimming embraces a unique, progressive Fox-produced sound that delivers the viber through shimmering waves of house, 2-step and UK garage.
Independent artistry and genuine appreciation for Tāmaki Makaurau’s electronic music scene is the driving force behind the mind-altering Dragonfruit: Remixed. “The range and stories behind the connections behind each track is in the beauty of music. Music connects and gives autonomy to artists for building spaces and worlds beyond the structures that oppress and try contain us.” Cho says.
Ruwhiu adds, “Having had opportunities to remix and collab with them, we wanted to capture this era in local music and showcase the incredible work and re-imaginings of our most beloved artists and friends.”
Gather your loved ones and turn it up in honour of Dragonfruit: Remixed. Guaranteed to have something for everyone.
