The video for Comfortable was filmed at three different locations over an intense three days and depicts the story of Monty – a 19-year-old boy who’s living in a society where he feels oppressed and doesn’t have
enough freedom to express himself.
The story follows Monty’s journey as he tries to find himself through different mediums to channel his creative energy. After watching a powerful message from Sophie-Maude, a young local singer, he finally
decides to drop his façade of normality and let his true colours shine through.
Sophie-Maude was integral in creating the storyline of the video so it was reflective of her single.
“Monty is a metaphor to show anyone
who feels that they have been suppressed by society's judgment measures that the best thing you can do is authentically live as yourself and to be comfortable without worrying about what other people's opinions are,” Sophie-Maude says.
Born
and raised in Tauranga, Sophie-Maude makes music that is driven by a desire to motivate, inspire and tell her story her way. By drawing from her own life experiences and coping with Autism, ADHD, OCD and Tourette’s syndrome,
she articulates stories and shared perspectives that connect with audiences across the spectrum.
A bold and fresh slice of R&B-meets-pop, with lush layers that blend strong melodies and harmonies, Sophie-Maude’s new single Comfortable takes
the listener on a journey, to a place where they can escape from the world and be lost in the music.
