Pacific artists wanting to try their luck for a trophy at the 2008 S3 Pacific Music Awards better get a hurry along as nominations close on Friday (7 March).
Artists wanting to be considered for the country’s premier Pacific music award are being urged to get their entries in by going to www.pacificmusicawards.org.nz.
Nominations for the S3 (pron. ess-cubed) Pacific Music Awards opened on January 15, 2008 for recordings released during the 2007 calendar year.
Artists can enter in the following categories;
- Radio 531PI Best Pacific Group
- Counties Manukau District Health Board Smokefree Best Pacific Female Artist
- Niu FM Best Pacific Urban Artist
- NZ Music Commission Best Pacific Male Artist
- APRA Best Pacific Song
- Niu FM Best Pacific Music Album
A new people’s choice award has also been introduced to the line-up for the Best Pacific Artist. All category finalists are eligible for the people’s choice award and the public will be able to cast their vote by logging onto www.pacificmusicawards.org.nz.
The awards are in their fourth year and winners are to be announced at an event celebrating and honouring Pacific musicians at Manukau City’s TelstraClear Pacific venue on May 31.
The S3 Pacific Music Awards are proudly supported by S3, Manukau City Council, Pacific Media Network, APRA, NZ Music Commission, Counties Manukau District Health Board - smokefree, Ministry of Pacific Island Affairs, Tagata Pasifika and Pacific Blue.
S3 is a Pacific community initiative aimed at reducing the risk, hospitalisation and harm that road accidents have on the Pacific people in Auckland.
