Auckland based music collective, The Human Kind have unveiled their latest single and video, Tell Me How.
Listen to the single HERE
With a new, psychedelic folk influence, Tell Me How bends genres from previous releases of The Human Kind. The track features the raw vocals of Mitch French, ethereal harmonies from Debbie Toko-Stevens and Chrissy Diamond, with instrumentation enveloped in cinematic styled production, that evoke a sense of wistful melancholy. Presenting itself as a love song, the track features a twist; instead of referring to another person, it tells
the story of finding inner peace.
“It portrays someone who's wrestling with turbulent emotions, with no way of helping themselves or even knowing how to ask for help,” explains Mitch. "This is a big problem with men these days,
and I can personally relate to this second hand".
The accompanying video follows a graceful ballet dancer, with her discipline and struggles, contrasting with images of a boxing match. In between her delicate movements, the boxer is shown
to be bruised, yet still fighting.
“It communicates both the challenge and reward of striving towards something and the joy found in finally succeeding”, says Mitch.
