Tussock Country Music Festival may not be going ahead, but the sweet chords of country music will still ring out around Eastern Southland this winter.
A number of local businesses, community groups and artists have chosen to work within the current event restrictions to host events around Gore in May and June, and it’s hoped they’ll be performing to supportive, sell out audiences.
“While we’d love to be packing Gore’s venues with thousands of festival goers this winter, event uncertainty and audience restrictions meant that wasn’t to be,” says New Zealand Country Music Festival Trust chairman Jeff Rea.
“Instead, the Trust is delighted to encourage those smaller and outdoor events who’ve chosen to continue, and we’ll support them however possible. It’ll be wonderful to experience live music and buzzing hospitality venues, despite these times
of disruption.”
Annual events such as the MLT Music Night, the Gore Truck Show and the Hokonui Ute Muster are scheduled for the coming weeks, and Gore will also play host to visiting national acts including Albi & The Wolves, Adam Hattaway & Tess Liautaud and Jenny Mitchell.
Tussock Country Music Festival is scheduled to return to Gore from May 26th 2023.
