The new single from System Corporation is a timely piece, however it was written before the pandemic, and the rise of conspiracy theories, and well before the invasion of Ukraine.
Spread about New Zealand, System Corporation are seldom together these days, but work has been continuing on a number of new songs remotely, set for release in 2022.
The first is The Zombies Walking. A somewhat tragic account of the helplessness of being led astray by people in power. A recurring theme for System Corp's singer/lyricist, Scott Newth
"Somehow, it's become way too easy to be misled by, what seems to me anyway, crazy ideas and theories. All this unease, it never seems to transition to real change in any way".
System Corporation began based on a conversation between Phil Somervell (The Datsuns) and their long standing live sound engineer, and music producer Scott Newth (The Datsuns, Parabola West, Rubita, Bitter Defeat) about swapping demos. The two were sharing a flat in Stockholm while The Datsuns were working on their fifth album Death Rattle Boogie. They were soon joined by Datsuns’ bandmate Ben Cole (also in The Joint Chiefs) on drums, and on returning to New Zealand, Andrew Newth (Southern Tribe) and Kent Newth (Rumpus Room).
