Bach Musica NZ are thrilled to finally be returning to their home at the Auckland Town Hall’s Great Hall on 3 July. After multiple cancellations due to COVID restrictions, Bach Musica NZ will triumphantly make their return with a performance of Handel's dramatic oratorio Samson
.
This moving piece is one of the finest dramatic works in classical music. Composed in 1743, Samson has enjoyed a timeless success. “I love the contrast of the very dramatic and deeply moving music in Handel’s Samson. Love, betrayal, and war; luckily there is a happy end in this piece!” says
Bach Musica NZ’s Music Director, Rita Paczian.
The brilliant performance features tenor Andrew Grenon in the title role of Samson, alongside soprano Joanna Foote, alto Kate Spence, and basses
Joel Amosa and Samuel McKeever, led by the exceptionally gifted conductor and Bach Musica NZ’s Music Director, Rita Paczian. As New Zealand’s only combined choir and orchestra, Bach Musica NZ will continue to
enrich people’s lives through music that touches the soul.
“The choir expressed total cohesion and became an instrument in itself – and this in the hands of their energetic and exemplary conductor. Conductor and choir were on top of the situation! It was a masterpiece!” - Rainer W. Buhmann, April 2021
Bach Musica NZ’s next two highly popular workshops are also coming up, with their Singing Workshop on 28 May rehearsing and performing Rutter’s Requiem, and a Sight-Reading Workshop on 11 June, both at the Somervell Presbyterian Church.
These workshops are a unique experience for enthusiasts of all skill levels to learn from the very best.
