Greta O'Leary has just dropped a music video for her single Outnumbered, produced by Shark Dog Productions, it's vibrant, dangerous, and a little silly.
Pōneke based Greta O'Leary is an alt-folk artist with a unique and unmistakable voice. Her rich and penetrating sound is foreign yet also familiar, understandable, as she came of age during a few nomadic years hitching the world and discovering her love of music through the folk scene of Australia and beyond. Sometimes likened to folk artists Mountain Man and Vashti Bunyan, she walks to her own step. "Writing and feeling is truly all that has ever made sense to me".
Set in eye-catching Piha, Greta's new music video is a quirky take on the traditional format. With captivating widespan scenes, rich colour, and seemingly intentional awkward rock clambering, this self directed video is nothing but a warm humoured nod at the melancholy and depth of Greta's sound. Shot by Adam Rohe, who most commonly a Theatre Director adds his own colour to the film work and overall vibe.
Her single Outnumbered was produced by Tiny Triumphs Recordings and mastered by Chris Chetland, Greta's ode to "out of step introverts". The single was selected for NZ on Air - New Tracks and a four star review from Muzic.net.nz, described Greta's sound as acoustic with a free thinking aesthetic and refusal to conform.
"Her voice is at the heart of everything, the dark light in the cave"- Kev Rowland, Muzic.net.nz
Greta is currently working on a New Music Development funded project with an EP and national tour in the works for Spring 2022, more to be announced soon.
