On Wednesday 8th June Sea Mouse will release the groove heavy second single, Quit My Job
from their upcoming EP, dropping mid-2022.
The Wellington-based blues-rock trio continue to make heads turn and feet tap with Quit My Job, an aptly named nod to the attitudes and stylings of genre legends. Comprised of Seamus Johnson (vocals, guitar) with Scott Maynard (bass), and Thomas Friggens (drums), Sea Mouse are known for explosive garage rock infused with delta blues grooves that have electrified mosh pits and dance floors across the country.

No strangers to the spotlights, Sea Mouse have played some of the most iconic venues in the country such as Whammy Bar, Meow, San Fran, and the Cook, as well as become audience favourites at a number of festivals, but the Evil Heart EP showcases how seamlessly the band's live act translates to a record.
The second single, Quit My Job,
is influenced by the guitar styles of R.L Burnside and Lightning Hopkins but twisted again by modern electric fuzz tones. ‘Quit That Job’ is about exactly that. The 5 track EP was recorded in Newtown, Wellington with Warwick Donald as homage to the band's blues heroes and influences.
Inspiration for the idea of a homage came from the band spending time learning and playing blues covers around Wellington under a pseudonym title. Joining the band for these gigs, and for the recording of this EP, is local keyboard maestro, Dayle Jellyman (Miles Calder, Three Rays).
The songs are accompanied by video of live footage from the recording session in a style reminiscent of NPR's famous Tiny Desk concert series, in an attempt to further pay tribute to the attitude of the blues and being “in the moment”.
