Music News - Leigh Franklin Releases 'So My Love'

Leigh Franklin Releases 'So My Love'

13 July 2022 - 0 Comments

Written when her son was just four months old, it took just a little longer (...four years in fact!) to find the space to record and produce So My Love. Featuring the raw beauty of guitarist Josh Owen, bass from Australian based Luke Hodgson and drums & percussion from the legendary John Clayton.

A new Mum, struggling with the life changes that come when the switch is flicked and her independence & sense of self "walks out that door ... and it's driving a hundred miles away". And the beautiful human that's sitting in front of her, smiling. And just like that, a completely different sense of freedom is found in this tender, fierce love. The great paradox.

"...a wistful, lovelorn air to many of her tracks, no doubt inspired by years of living away from home". Music OMH

Leigh Franklin - singer, songwriter and musician, Sagittarius, Mummy and hemp butter maker, currently resides in Auckland in beautiful New Zealand.

Originally trained in improvisation, Leigh has developed a love of acoustic-electro/pop soundscapes and is currently working on production for a brand new EP, called So My Love. The title track will be released on 13th July 2022. You can expect singles to trickle through over the months of 2022. A side project for kids - Bedtime & Other Stories is also planned for 2022, with the title track Bedtime coming soon. Leigh has also recently co-written and featured on fellow singer songwriter Jason Kerrison’s June 2022 release Someone Should Love You.

Leigh grew up in Christchurch, New Zealand and based herself in Melbourne and London, gigging with her band and later with soul singer Joseph Junior, who also features on the title track to album On A Saturday (2013, producer Kiron J, Control Freak Music), recorded in Christchurch & London. Other past releases include EP You See Leaves (2008, producer Kiron J, London), and EP Something Beautiful (2004, London). Performance highlights include Toast Festival, In the City Festival in Manchester and the many late night sessions at The Troubadour in Earls Court.
