Soothing electronic pop band Sports Dreams today release brand new laid-back single DIY and announce their sophomore EP and a national tour.
Sports Dreams elicit vivid vignettes of North Island roadtrips with their lilting, thoughtful, brand of electronic pop. DIY is the group's first single in a couple years, and the first off upcoming EP Weather Admitting. From a sparse beginning, DIY swells to a meditative refrain "you win, unkowingly I let you in." The Wellington band will be taking DIY and the rest of Weather Admitting on the road this spring.
Their eponymous debut EP Sports Dreams was a Student Radio Network favourite, while standout single Drive was selected as a song of the month by The Spinoff. Shannen Georgia Petersen's "powerful and dramatic vocals...sway and drift through layers of heartfelt pain, betrayal, and fear" (White Light/White Heat) while Fraser Williams provides the canvas; a "hazy time-lapsed sonic reflection" (Undertheradar).
DIY is out now via Papaiti Records and is available on stream and on Bandcamp.
