Kiwi chart toppers Shihad and Opshop will join leading rally drivers Chris West and Haydon Paddon for a unique event next March, featuring celebrity rally race-offs and a rock concert, with all proceeds going to Camp Quality, a charity for children living with cancer.
Andrew Simms Mitsubishi has signed the award winning bands, West, Paddon and a host of celebrities for the inaugural Rock n Rally charity event to be held at Western Springs on Saturday, 21st March 2009.
And as an added bonus, a high spec street version of the Evo 9 rally car worth over $40,000, courtesy of Andrew Simms Mitsubishi, will be given away on the night.
Celebrities racing with West and Paddon include Lana Coc-Kroft, Vicky Lee Valentino, Jono and Simon Doull from The Rock FM, Stacey Jones, Peggy Bourne and Temepara George.
The racing will pit Paddon’s Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 9 against West in the brand new Evo 10, with the winning team receiving $5,000 and the runners up $1,000, for the charity of their choice.

Camp Quality (New Zealand) Incorporated is a Charitable Trust established in 1985. The first camp in West Auckland in January 1985 was attended by 22 children from throughout New Zealand. Since then it has grown to include regular camp locations situated in:
• Auckland/Northland
• Waikato/Bay of Plenty
• Wellington/Central Districts
• Christchurch
• Southland
Each year more that 300 children aged from 5 to 16 years attend one of the camps.
Camp Quality is a totally voluntary organisation with no individual receiving remuneration. Thousands of hours each year go into raising funds and organising the programmes. Any child may attend a camp if they have been afflicted with cancer. Campers are in all stages of their illness. Each camp has a minimum of two paediatric oncology trained staff in attendance. In some circumstances siblings are also able to attend. Other support activities are run during the course of the year. These include, family days, reunion days, mini-camps and social outings.
