Under The Influence

15 May 2002 - 0 Comments

21 year-old New Zealand record label Flying Nun will release the fruits of their '12 bands in 21 hours' marathon 21st anniversary recording session for the double CD 'Under The Influence'.

Featuring 19 songs all recorded over the course of Friday 22 March and Auckland's York Street Studios (with a few well deserved exceptions), 'Under The Influence' includes original tracks and classic covers from Flying Nun artists new and old.

Over the course of two discs you'll hear brand new tracks from the likes of original Nun greats Graeme Downes and The Clean, The Hasselhoff Experiment, HDU and label mates-come-lately Pam Am and Betchadupa, as well as covers of Flying Nun favourites and obscurities from artists including Chris Knox, Garageland, The D4 and special guest Steve Malkmus, who tackled seminal Verlaine's song 'Death And The Maiden' with the help of its original composer Graeme Downes and Hasselhoff Experiment drummer Brendan Moran.

This release should be in stores on Thursday 16 May 02.
