“Golden is a song for the self-doubters and big dreamers. The sensitive and soft hearted. The ones who are always at war with their own mind. I stand with you. This one is for us.” - Hannah May
Golden sits in a lane of its own with hints of bouncy indie folk, pop and alternative whilst still exerting the natural and earthy production heard in previous releases ‘Written In The Sea’ and ‘Earthside’. Hannah doesn’t stick to one sound or genre, instead she rides a wave of evolution and growth, never settling in a particular realm of music. Recorded and produced by artist and multi-instrumentalist Tay Oskee who has supported the likes of Ziggy Alberts, Xavier Rudd and Jeremy Loops, the summery feel good track came to life amongst the trees and birds in a small self-built container studio built by Tay himself, situated on a rural property in the Sunshine Coast hinterland. Tay's distinctly natural instrumentation mixed with Hannah’s irresistibly smooth vocal tone is a match made on Earth.
The former New Zealand X Factor finalist has six strong solo singles under her belt since her departure from successful kiwi country duo Mae Valley with Golden being her seventh and most exciting yet. The track oozes positivity with its strong message of hope for those struggling with self doubt and negative mindset. Through her optimistic yet honest lyricism, May speaks to her past and present self and anyone else who needs to be reminded that they are in fact "already golden". OnNovember 25th, you can see Hannah live in action at the Junk Bar, Brisbane where she will be supporting indie pop artist Chloe Styler. Tickets available here http://bit.ly/3Oem2N9. Following this, May is excited to announce her first ever headlining show which will take place in Gold Coast on January 28th. Keep a close watch on her social media pages as further details will soon follow.
