Luger Boa fronted by former D4 singer Jimmy Christmas has won the Jim Beam band search to open the Rock Stage at next weekend’s sold out Vodafone Homegrown festival.
The Rock radio station was inundated with entries from hopeful rock acts but after they were all weighed up Luger Boa’s entry stood out from the pack.
“Luger Boa has unbelievable energy and a really comprehensive set of great songs…. I caught them at this year’s Big Day Out and their live act will certainly kick off Vodafone Homegrown with plenty of grunt,” says The Rock’s Duncan Heyde.
Luger Boa’s sound and energy is a distinct trademark of front man Jimmy Christmas and with glam and 70's rock influences they’ll definitely bring an impressive and worthy performance to the Jim Beam rock stage. The band released a great debut album last November, and their live act has been honed by touring with NZ rock royalty Shihad.
Other bands on the Jim Beam Stage include Opshop, Evermore, Elemeno-P, Goodnight Nurse, Blindspott and Supergroove. Doors open at 1pm and with Luger Boa kicking things off it will definitely be worth getting there early.
