Laurel Announces New Zealand tour for April 2023

13 February 2023 - 0 Comments

British indie musician Laurel today announces her Australia & New Zealand tour for April and May 2023. This will be Laurel’s highly anticipated return since her debut AU tour in 2019. She will be bringing her live show to Auckland’s Tuning Fork, Sydney’s Metro Theatre, Melbourne’s Max Watts, Brisbane’s The Zoo and Perth’s Freo.Social alongside the Groovin The Moo festival dates. Since Laurel’s artist debut, she has developed a much more energetic and synth-driven sound, evolving from the indie and folk-leaning tracks she began with. Australia’s national radio station triple j, known for discovering and supporting up and coming artists, has been supporting Laurel from her very first release.

Tickets for all shows go on sale 11am Wednesday February 15

My Live Nation members can secure tickets in the exclusive presale beginning 10am Tuesday February 14

ABOUT LAUREL

Years don’t get much weirder than 2020. After slingshotting from LA to France and finally ending up back in London, the free-spirited Laurel capped 12 months of flux and confusion with her astonishing Petrol Bloom EP. Praised by The Line Of Best Fit for its demon-quashing “full bodied pop”, it featured the shimmering Scream Drive Faster, which pulled in a huge six million (...and counting) Spotify streams, reintroducing the singer-songwriter with a shimmering new sound and sharp aesthetic.

But Petrol Bloom was only the beginning. Next came the second half of the project, the bright and buzzy Limbo Cherry, the perky flipside to Petrol Bloom’s glossy anthems. “Both of the records are about me coming of age,” explains the 26-year-old Brit. “They’re about me becoming a woman – so much has changed for me in the past year or two, in terms of me knowing who I am.” Limbo Cherry picks apart the process with devastating accuracy, looking at her younger, more emotional side – the side that Laurel’s not sure if she should let go for good or embrace wholeheartedly.

With a sold out London headline show, and a support tour for the Danish superstar MØ under her belt, Laurel doesn’t show any signs of slowing down. In 2022, Laurel featured on Flume’s critically acclaimed album Palaces alongside Caroline Polachek, Oklou, and Damon Albarn. Laurel and Flume debuted the song, I Can’t Tell, on the Coachella main stage. Laurel continued to perform with Flume throughout 2022 with appearances on tastemaker stages such as Red Rocks, Governor’s Ball, Austin City Limits, III Points, and Portola.
