Fast-rising New Zealand pop singer-songwriter Luca George offers the first glimpse of his debut EP (due June 2023) with Blue Again. The uplifting-yet-melancholy anthem is the first taste of Luca’s work with
producer (and fellow Kiwi) Josh Fountain, known for developing and co-writing the breakout hits of NZ’s most recent global export BENEE. The track was mixed by Eric J Dubowsky (Ruel, Flume,
Role Model)
Speaking on the track, Luca shares; "Blue Again is about a toxic relationship. Everyone, including my own Mother, told me it wasn’t good for me….but I kept going back, thinking the next time would be different.
Blue represents sadness but it’s also the colour of bruises and it’s like every time this person and I reconnected it would leave me with these emotional bruises. I would feel blue again.
Ultimately I knew that it could never last forever but I think we all have these relationships in our lives, ones we wish so bad to salvage. At the end of the day we just need to cut our losses…..but I haven’t really figured out how to do that yet so I wrote a song about it."
Accompanying Blue Again’s release is an enchanting animated lyric video created by Jess Severn, known for her work with Justin Bieber, Peach PRC and Yungblud.
Luca George is a 20 year old pop singer/songwriter and horticulturist from Wanaka, Aotearoa/New Zealand, who funded his initial music-making activities by cultivating and selling rare and exotic plants. Luca’s ‘unhealthy addiction to indoor plants’ can be followed in full on his plant account The Indoor Forest.
Luca is the first New Zealand artist to be signed with Platoon, the London-based artist development company known for the early-stage career development of artists including Billie Eilish, Holly Humberstone,
YEBBA, Jorja Smith and many more.
