Coridian Unleashes the power of 'Hava'

10 March 2023 - 0 Comments

Hava (Hindi for Air) is the fourth and final chapter in Coridian’s Elements concept, following on from 2015 EP Oceanic (Water), 2017 EP Caldera (Earth) and the 2020 album Eldur (Fire). The album is Coridian’s first full length album, containing 13 tracks which includes 5 singles released throughout the last two years and each representing various stages of the overall sound and emotion that makes up Hava.

Written and recorded during various stages of a global pandemic and many citywide lockdowns, Hava represents the band striving to complete and accomplish their ultimate goal, that further progresses their identity and ideology to their fans, their peers and to the world.

The subject matter for Hava remains optimistic and carries the continued theme of growth, humanity and expression. Musically and artistically, Hava incorporates Indian influences, an ode to frontman Maharaj’s heritage. Like their previous work, each album takes on not only an element but also history, culture, experience and memory.

The album ebbs and flows and when it hits, it will impact you. With massive walls of guitar, heavy drum grooves and surging bass, vocal melodies soaring, monster hooks and passion in waves. The landscape of each song is painted with layers of intense guitars, keyboards and more. Hava offers a progressive hard rock edge, offering alternative time signatures, odd patterns as well as all out grooves for ease of headbanging.

"The bass guitar and the pummeling drums, courtesy of Nick and Kris, respectively, propel the entire tune. The fuzz-laden, yet powerful guitar chords from Mike flesh out the foreground, as the vocals take the centre stage."
- State of Mind (Single) Review , Steve Shyu Muzic.net.nz

"With the highest production quality, a thoughtful song structure and interesting lyrical syncopation - it really is hard to fault."

- Rakshasa (Single) Review, Ben Sargent, Muzic.net.nz

"Here we find the band somewhat more restrained at some points, while at other points they create the massive anthem-like sound which one expects from U2 or Muse."
- Endless War (Single) Review, Kev Rowland, Muzic.net.nz
