Acclaimed U.S sister duo Larkin Poe today reveal the local opening acts for each of their New Zealand shows on their Blood Harmony 2023 Tour.
Opening for Larkin Poe at Auckland’s Powerstation on Thursday 13th April is captivating folk-rock musician Mema Wilda, Wellington’s Hunter Lounge will see rising young singer-songwriter Bails open the show on Friday 14th April, before Larkin Poe wind up their NZ tour on Saturday 15th April at Christchurch’s James Hay Theatre supported by high-octane alt pop-rockers Volts.
Now with the Easter long weekend approaching, Bluesfest Byron Bay announces the Byron Bay Bluesfest Easter Sale, where you can secure the best priced tickets from Wednesday 5 April through to Monday 10 April.
Make sure to take advantage of this unique opportunity as the perfect chance to treat yourself, friends, and whanau to a great night out at one of the Bluesfest NZ sideshows!
Taking a modern interpretation on traditional blues music, Larkin Poe create a unique brand of gritty, southern-fried blues, roots ‘n’ roll. Rebecca Lovell’s voice is full, comforting and charismatic as it seamlessly blends into her big sister Megan’s gospel-like backing vocals.
“Bewitching Southern gothic darkness.” – Planet Rock Magazine
Both performing as multi-instrumentalists, it’s Megan that often steals the show, providing the perfect balance with some cracking lap steal solos; their performances that have garnered plenty of high-profile admirers such as Elvis Costello, Keith Urban, Bob Seger and Russell Crowe.
In the extraordinary year that was 2020, Larkin Poe continued to be extraordinary, releasing not one, but two albums; Self Made Man in June and Kindred Spirits in November, the latter housing a fine collection of stripped-back versions of classics and new covers.
“…a beguiling mix of gothic soul and outlaw country.” - UNCUT
The latest full-length from Larkin Poe, Blood Harmony is a whole-hearted invitation into a world they know intimately, a Southern landscape so precisely conjured you can feel the sticky humidity of the warm summer air.
Conjuring up Southern landscapes with gritty roots-n-roll, bluesy lap steel solos, and powerful, dynamic vocals, the Lovell sisters deliver a performance that is like a breath of fresh air to the blues scene! Don’t miss Larkin Poe LIVE in concert.
