Big Fan is expanding their variety of initiatives offered to musical creatives in Aotearoa with Fan Camp Volume 1.
Fan Camp Volume 1 is a five-day long writing workshop where nine successful applicants will be invited to write collaboratively with other producers, vocal performers, instrumentalists and songwriters. Campers will, over the course of the five days, have access to three professional-grade recording studios to experiment and record demos for the music written during the workshop, for free, and with no commercial release expectations.
Fan Camp Volume 1 will take place from Monday 15th May to Friday 19th May 10am to 6pm each day.
With a subsidy available for one applicant residing outside of Tāmaki Makaurau, musically minded creatives from all of Aotearoa are encouraged to apply.
Applications are open now via the Big Fan website and close Thursday 13th April at 10pm.
Fan Camp Volume 1 is designed to remove as many barriers as possible to the collaborative processes of songwriting, and is intended for all musical creatives from 18 years and older, with no upper age limit.
“Everyone who enters our doors immediately feels welcome in the environment, which automatically lends itself to collaboration. It’s very easy to become isolated in the music industry, particularly for songwriters. But collaboration can lead to absolute magic in the studio and beyond. We’re thrilled to launch Fan Camp Volume 1, taking place during May (NZ Music Month), and we’re ready to inspire songwriting processes, within our safe and welcoming spaces,” says Big Fan Programmes Manager Janine (J9) Russell.
