SOLE Speaker Series 2023

12 April 2023 - 0 Comments

SOLE Music Academy is proud to announce its upcoming Speaker Series, an intimate series of events that supports Canterbury artists and emerging music professionals.

The three-event series takes place on Monday 1st, Monday 8th, and Monday 15th of May from 7-9 pm at the SOLE Music Academy Studios in Addington, Christchurch.

This year we’re giving you the opportunity to meet face to face with our 10 guest speakers from a range of genre backgrounds including rock, reggae, soul, R&B, Indie, Electronic and Dance, with reputable names and businesses. Barnaby Weir (The Black Seeds), hip-hop, rapper and ex-netball JessB and internationally respected producer Greg Haver (Melanie C, The Spice Girls) are just some of the speakers that will all be sharing their unmissable gems of knowledge and advice to help further your music career.

The first event on the 1st of May is Performance & Production. We will be hosting Barnaby Weir (The Black Seeds), Eddie Kiesanowski (Pretty Stooked) and Dan & Corban of TWOMINDS Festival. Together they will share their experience in the industry and encapsulate what it takes to emerge, establish and showcase the perfect performance and live production.

The second event on the 8th of May, Branding & Development will see the powerhouse rapper JessB join us, as well as local DJ and design guru Becca Barlclay of Sugar & Spice Agency and Chris Close of Winegum Records, a local label and management to artists such as Mousey & Mim Jensen. Together they will share their experience in the industry and delve into the world of developing a brand, developing others and developing yourself .

The series will end on the 15th of May with Music Industry. On this night we have invited reputable producer Greg Haver of NZ Producers Guild, Jeff Newton of NZ On Air and Mike Hall of APRA. Together they will share their experience in the industry and teach you the ins and outs of producing, monetising and releasing a song.
