Aotearoa’s pop powerhouse PRINS continues to gain exceptional momentum, today releasing her stunningly personal EP Goodbye To The Old Me.

Sincere, raw and introspective; Goodbye To The Old Me signifies the beginning of a new chapter for PRINS. Stacked with the artists’ recognisably hook-laden, slick pop production and killer vocals, the EP also represents a new exploration of a willingness to embrace personal change through music.
“Goodbye To The Old Me is crucial to my artistic growth,” reflects PRINS. “This mini EP is part 1 of a broader concept which sees me shedding an older version of myself and stepping into the person I want to become. As I reflected on my personal experiences, I found that the creative process was cathartic and allowed me to confront some of the challenges that had been weighing me down. I have been vulnerable and honest in my songwriting as I enter a new era.”
Coming together with a collaboration that spanned several countries, the EP was co-written with the help of LA-based Jillian Slade and Shawn Platzker. Production was a joint effort with PRINS’ team based in Quebec, Canada, and vocals were recorded at PRINS’ home studio in Christchurch with engineer Luke Cooper. Finally, the songs were all mastered in Nashville.
The three-track EP features previously released singles Love Of My Life and Something New, the latter of which debuted at #58 on the top 100 most played chart and #2 on the Hot 20 NZ Singles chart. To tie the trio together is the brand new song and title track Goodbye To The Old Me; a song which particularly exemplifies the emotionally challenging endeavour of the EP.
“Goodbye To The Old Me took some time to record, as I would find myself breaking down in tears,” says PRINS. “You can hear this in the line “I was so fucking mad” in the first verse.”
Following the massive strides made locally and internationally last year with the release of her EP LIFE IS BETTER NOW, 2023 is shaping up to be another incredible year for PRINS, who has just announced her first world tour which will take in 23 cities across the globe throughout April, May and June.
Her Aotearoa fans can witness the magic of PRINS live on the first two stops of the tour, in Christchurch on April 14 and in Auckland on April 15. Tickets are available HERE.
Until then, embrace today’s release Goodbye To The Old Me and get ready for more to come. “Part 2 of the project is a bold exploration of my evolving identity,” says PRINS. “It’s another step towards fully embracing my true self.”
