Juicy Fest is back for 2024 with new cities and a line-up featuring some of the most influential R&B and hip-hop stars of the 90's and 2000's.
T.I., T-Pain, The Game and Ashanti have been revealed as the headliners of Juicy Fest 2024. Rounding out the list of hit-makers heading to New Zealand and Australia as part of the tour in January are Trey Songz, Fabolous, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Keri Hilson and Mario.
Juicy Fest is a R18 one-day festival, scheduled for nine shows across New Zealand and Australia next summer - including a South Island stop among the three new cities. Between January 3 - 20, Juicy Fest will head to Christchurch, Wellington, Tauranga and Auckland in New Zealand, before moving across the ditch for shows in Melbourne, Sydney, Perth, Adelaide and Gold Coast.
T.I. is a three-time Grammy award-winning, 19-time Grammy-nominated hip-hop icon who has etched his mark into music history. With some of his biggest hits including Big Things Poppin (Do It), Bring Em Out, What You Know, Swagga Like Us, Whatever You Like, Dead and Gone, and Get Back Up, T.I. is sure to be a crowd favourite.
Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter Ashanti, became one of the biggest female artists of her time when she burst onto the music scene in 2002 with her self-titled debut album, Ashanti. The album reached #1 on both the Billboard Top 200 and R&B album charts propelling her to international stardom. With hits such as Only You, Baby, Foolish, Happy, Rock Wit You and collaborations with Ja Rule like Always on Time and Mesmerise, Ashanti will for sure be taking fans back in time.
T-Pain was one of the most influential hip-hop and R&B artists of the 2000's with multiple hits including Buy You a Drank, I’m N Luv, Bartender, I’m Sprung and his iconic sound that popularised the use of Auto-Tune in the genre. He is a two-time Grammy award-winning, 13-time Grammy-nominated R&B and hip-hop game-changer.
The final headliner is Compton rapper The Game, who can lay claim to some of the biggest rap songs of the mid-2000's - How We Do and Hate it or Love it among them. Juicy Fest will be The Game’s first appearance in New Zealand since 2012 and he cannot wait to return.
“New Zealand, Australia! I’m coming to the Juicy Fest. I’m happy to come back, I’m happy to see y’all finally,” The Game said.
Juicy Fest promoters Glenn Meikle and Matthew Spratt are excited about securing such a high calibre group of artists for Juicy Fest 2024 and say there may be a special guest announcement in the near future that will complement the already impressive line-up.
“We’ve been working really hard to secure a line-up to rival this year’s inaugural festival and I think we have achieved that and then some,” Meikle said.
“We’ve locked in some of the biggest names in R&B and hip-hop from the 1990's and 2000's era and they’re just excited about coming to New Zealand and Australia as we are to be hosting them,” Spratt said.
“This year we have added Christchurch and Wellington to the New Zealand leg of the Juicy Fest tour and Adelaide on the Australian leg to ensure Juicy Fest is more accessible for more people,” Meikle said.
The pair said while they were proud of what had been achieved for the first Juicy Fest, some tweaks had been made behind the scenes to better the Juicy Fest experience for all attendees in 2024.
Among the changes will be the earlier opening of festival gates to better cater to the flow of queues.
“We have taken in all the feedback from Juicy Fest 2023 and are confident the next will be even better,” Spratt said.
Juicy Fest 2024 gets underway in New Zealand on January 3, providing a sense of nostalgia for everyone who loves the R&B and hip-hop sounds of the 90's and 2000's.
Tickets are expected to sell-out pretty quickly and will go on sale to the general public from Wednesday, April 26, 2023.
