Davidda is an indie artist based in Tamaki Makaurau, Aotearoa Big on story-telling and romanticising mundane daily tasks, this Paeroa-bred wahine pours a refreshing cup of familiarity and mystery through her music and songwriting.
In early 2022, Davidda joined forces with Anna Coddington to write some demos with the help of NZ Music On Air funding. Hot on the heels of her previous single Slow Turn released in December, Bear is the second single to shoulder shimmy its way out of those sessions.
Born from poem snippets and deep adoration for the rhythm section, Bear gently takes you by the hand and leads you through a smoky dreamscape of the internal dialogues; internal dialogues that take place when you’re feeling chaotic, ruminating on every single thought you’ve ever had.
With Anna on guitar and production wizard duties, Mike Hall handing out bass stabs on a silver platter, Caleb Nott tipping out a tasteful amount of conga and farfisa boogie, and just the right dash of synth magic courtesy of Lips, this single slow-dances you down your mind’s pathways. It celebrates the catharsis in talking it out, acknowledging the chaos and stomp dancing; and Bear is the antidote you need to do just that.
Bear is the tune to help shimmy your feelings out of hibernation!
