Today, New Zealand dream-pop group There’s A Tuesday make a very welcome return with their new single Familiar. The dreamy and atmospheric melody radiates and a reminder of exactly why There’s A Tuesday is one of New Zealand’s most exciting new talents.
"Familiar is about love and being human "the band explain, "we hope it’ll make people dance!" Shimmering and bright with a sense of warmth and nostalgia throughout the track, Familiar plays on the notion of meeting someone for the first time but feeling as if you’ve known them your whole life - "you feel familiar I’m getting to know you again". "We knew the song needed energy and colour "the band explain when chatting about how to capture such a vivid experience. "While maintaining a sense of lyrical sincerity and band focused production, the song explores some new expansive sonic elements that back up and give rise to the emotion of the song."
Naming Julia Jacklin as one of their biggest inspirations (amongst the likes of Phoebe Bridgers and BENEE), the breakthrough four-piece recently played as special guests on Julia’s run of New Zealand shows, and were invited on stage each night to perform the intimate and emotional ‘Head Alone’ with Julia herself.
Fronted by Nat Hutton and Minnie Robberds with Gus Murray on drums and Joel Becker on bass, the flourishing young band has been acclaimed globally for their dream-like, vibrant sound and a charisma that’s so well championed by their imaginative lyrics and melodious pop-infused tunes. There’s A Tuesday were recently nominated for a Silver Scroll Award (New Zealand's most prestigious songwriting award, recognising outstanding achievement in the craft of songwriting) as well as Breakthrough Artist Of The Year at New Zealand’s Aotearoa Music Awards, and were also finalists for Rolling Stone NZ’s ‘Best New Artist’ at the Rolling Stone NZ Awards.
