Written By Wolves Release New Track 'Misery'

New Zealand’s fresh and progressive cinematic rock band Written By Wolves have released new track Misery.

“The new track is an emphatic plea for something more in life than what we have been sold. The broken mental health systems, the loneliness and isolation felt by so many in a day and age in which we are more connected than ever, the over worked and stretched teachers, nurses, doctors, and employees in almost every industry, inequality in almost every aspect of society and a self-serving, capitalist ideal that is not designed to aid or look after the well-being of people, humanity, or the planet, yet continues to roll on with the ferocity of a runaway steam train,” says vocalist Michael Murphy.

“Yet, through all this, the song implores hope, that there has to be more than this and there has to be a way to dig ourselves out of the hole we find ourselves in–that we are not just made for misery and through all the negativity there is beauty in the world and the desire of those that wish to change it for the better,” he adds.

Having announced themselves on the world stage with their debut release, Secrets in 2019, Written By Wolves, then combined with some of the biggest names in Rock in 2021 to release The Collab Project, an EP and mental health initiative aimed at giving their fans, friends, and followers a platform to talk about their mental health and a reminder that no matter what they are going through they do not have to do it alone. Featuring Sonny Sandoval of P.O.D, Kellin Quinn of Sleeping With Sirens, Trenton Woodley of Hands Like Houses, and Sydney Rae White of The Wild Things, the EP has received critical acclaim, millions of streams, and delighted fans worldwide.

Renowned for their highly energetic live show, the band have already shared the stage with international heavyweights such as Machine Gun Kelly, Limp Bizkit, Pendulum, Sublime With Rome, Suicidal Tendencies, Hed PE, Escape The Fate, We The Kings, Four Year Strong, Stevie Stone, and Kehlani, and have recently completed three nationwide tours with two of New Zealand’s biggest Rock bands - Devilskin and Blindspott.

They are one of the highest streamed rock bands from New Zealand, having amassed more than 350,000 monthly listeners, 51,000 followers and more than 64 million streams on Spotify and over 119,000 subscribers and 74 million views on YouTube. Previous singles Not Afraid To Die, Genius and Timebombs & Hurricanes have all received Highly Commended Awards in the prestigious International Song Writing Competition. Their latest release, Give ‘Em Hell is currently sitting at number 13 on the SMR Radio Chart for mainstream and active rock in the United States and still climbing.

With more new music incoming and international tour announcements on the horizon, Written By Wolves have well and truly announced their new era and are back; bigger and better than ever.
