The government's major arts funding body Creative New Zealand have announced the latest lucky recipients of project funding, under its second funding round for the 2001/2002 financial year. As per usual, Creative NZ were only able to fund a moderate percentage of funding applicants, allocating about $3,500,000 in funding to 324 of 794 applicants.
New Creative NZ funded projects to look forward to in the near future include albums by electronic musicians Mandrake and rotor+, popular post-rockers Jakob, solo artists Alec Bathgate from Tall Dwarfs, Luke Casey from Eye TV and Fiso from The Footsouljahs, and compilations from both Auckland indie label Arch Hill Recordings (which will be accompanied by a CNZ-funded release tour) and hip-hop production house Woodcut Productions.
Creative NZ also funded tours by members of the Arch Hill Recordings roster and Cloudboy's Demarnia Lloyd, invested in events including the 2002 Aotearoa Hip Hop Summit and the Wellington International Jazz Festival, and have lent a hand to New Zealand hip-hop stalwart Dean Hapeta for finishing his 'rapumentary' film 'Know The Links'.
Applications for Creative New Zealand's next funding round close on 26 July 02, and you'll find all the information and forms you require in order to apply, by following the below link.
