With 10,000 views since it was uploaded five days ago, Minuit’s much-googled new video ‘Aotearoa’ was the #1 Most Viewed New Zealand music clip on youtube last week.
The song ‘Aotearoa’ features on Minuit’s critically acclaimed album Find Me Before I Die A Lonely Death Dot Com, and contains the lyric “You and me, we are a New Zealand”. For the music video, the band gave New Zealander’s a chance to show who they are and what makes them kiwis by submitting photos which represent this idea to feature in the video. Be it a photo of their town, their family, a favourite beach, a tattoo, or just them – whatever they thought showed a bit of who they are in one shot. The video also includes film footage of events and people that have made up New Zealand.
The band was inundated with well over 500 photographs sent in from fans across the country. “The inbox got a bit of a hammering, we were blown away how many pics came in,” says band member Paul Dodge. “And to hear the stories attached to those pics and lives was truly humbling.”
The clip premiered last week on TV3’s Nightline, and is currently play listed on the nation’s Music TV channels. ‘Aotearoa’ can also be viewed via youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7wKhrEFzLfM
