With the release of her debut single bed alongside its music video in early 2023, Thuryah presented a promising introduction to her indie-pop sound.
The poetry i don’t write EP is a 5 track project that not only offers a captivating indie-pop experience but pays homage to Thuryah’s Arabic culture with one of the tracks music videos The Nile is filmed entirely in Egypt and features Arabic lyrics.
Thuryah began her songwriting journey during the lockdowns of 2020. Inspired by artists like Lana Del Rey and Cigarettes After Sex, she discovered her unique sound and lyrical style by delving into her diary entries and personal heartbreak.
Writing from her bedroom in Auckland, New Zealand, Thuryah spent a year crafting her debut EP poetry i don’t write. Each track further tells a story of romantic heartbreak, blending dreamy vocals and introspective musings that capture the essence of her experiences.
Exclusive merchandise, featuring custom-made posters and notebooks, will be available for purchase at the show.
Supporting the EP release show are bandmates Samantha Cheong (guitar) and Luke Dizon (piano). This event promises to be an evening of heartfelt music from up and coming Kiwi artists.
