Music News - Vikae Releases Emotionally Charged Alt Pop X Country Ballad

Hot off the release of her latest single Pandora's Box, VÏKAE releases S.M.S. (Save Myself). Written by Veronika Bell with further production from Will Henderson and vocal production from Abigail Knudson and mastering by Ethan McCleary.
As a part of VÏKAE's Love Games Deluxe EP, which is due for release 17.11.23, VÏKAE wanted to showcase the fundamental elements of the mixtape which explores the themes of self love, self reliance and acceptance amongst tragedy and trauma. S.M.S. is a slower ballad not typical in VÏKAE's repertoire but something that she has been exploring a lot more in the last year, and the direction VÏKAE is planning to go into going forward (although still staying true to that alt-pop 'vibe'). Focusing on lyricism and poetry and elements of country music, this mature and insightful ballad is VÏKAE's proudest work yet, fueling the fire for further exploration of the country sound that she loves. VÏKAE was raised on country music such as Dr Hook, Taylor Swift, The Eagles and Dolly Parton.

S.M.S. was actually written amidst the lockdowns that we had a few years ago but has not been released till now because it didn't seem like the right time. Originating as a look into mental health and how important it is to have self strength in order to overcome challenges, Now, the lyrics align with the sadness of the War in Ukraine and a song she has sent to family members over there as a means to upkeep morale. S.M.S. was the final song that VÏKAE played for her late grandmother who passed away last week which makes this release even more special.
S.M.S. has already had a bit of playlisting success with Ukrainian Spotify playlists with playlists featuring S.M.S. such as: Осінній релакс and Новинки щоп'ятницi.
The music video for S.M.S. is very much in the works and will be directed by Chontalle Musson with expected release within the coming weeks.
