Infinity Ritual release their powerful EP 'II' next Friday November 3rd

27 October 2023 - 0 Comments

Infinity Ritual made a resounding impact on Aotearoa's heavy music scene in 2022 with the release of their self-titled debut EP. It hit the Official Top 40 Albums Chart at No. 17 – that's the international chart, alongside albums by Dua Lipa, Six60 and Jack Harlow.

EP II launches next Friday November 3rd, digitally, and on CD and vinyl. It's the very first marbled vinyl manufactured by Stebbing since the founding of the Stebbing Recording Studios in 1970.

II features the lead single Earthdriver, which can be heard on radio around Aotearoa. Earthdriver began as two different riff-heavy songs which eventually merged to create one monster. Starting with drums alone, with no click track or guide instruments, Rhythm Ace's studio maestro Sam Johnson had to wait for the layers to be added over subsequent sessions to discover what the song was going to become.

The Infinity Ritual sound is hard to pin down, but the band describe it as a groove metal wall of noise, with solid doses of rock, doom and stoner rock. II retains Infinity Ritual's trademark riff-based wall of noise layered with plenty of groove, but is a little more experimental than the first EP; a natural progression in terms of sonics and song structure.

II showcases Adam Colless' distinctive voice at the forefront on Earthdriver and Deceivers, with Jason Karam's vocal growl bursting through on Succession and Stones.

The whole second side of the vinyl EP is taken up with the epic 18 minute 50 second track Stones, a work the band are particularly proud of. It's a journey in itself, so when you get the chance, put your headphones on in a dark room and enjoy the ride.
