Cross Street Music Festival Announces First Acts and Earlybird

03 November 2023 - 0 Comments

The beloved Cross Street Music Festival is back in the hood on 9 March 2024. Bigger and more diverse than ever before, the 2024 festival proudly announces the first acts in its eclectic line-up, and the chance to snap up limited release earlybird tickets.

A synthesis of creative disciplines and arts, Cross Street Music Festival is the gateway to the next generation of music in Aotearoa. Established in 2018, the festival was consciously created to help artists be seen and enjoyed by more people. The Karangahape district, with its colourful and edgy personality, provides the home for this festival which caters to all tastes and all persuasions.

Limited earlybird ticket sales are open from 2 November 2023 at $40 for Standard tickets and $30 for Student and Low Wage Earners. Booking fees apply.

Hosted by ‘rhinestone cowboy’ Karangahape Road drag-performance staple Monty Montgomery, attendees can expect a fun day of extremely talented performers, including:

Princess Chelsea

Since 2009, Princess Chelsea has been one of the most iconic indie artists of Tāmaki Makaurau. Her music video for The Cigarette Duet was one of the first videos to be dubbed ‘viral’ in early 2012, and since then she’s been an international dreampop darling. While she’s embarking on her first ever tour of the USA in November, the local arts community is still something she’s strongly connected to, having played a fundraiser show for The Wine Cellar in February, and participating in 95bFM’s Save The b! fundraiser gig in December.

Fathe and the Sweetos

Notable newcomers Fathe and the Sweetos are already making a name for themselves performing a fusion of afrobeat, funk and disco that gets people moving. The group brings an abundance of positive energy to the stage.

Mirror Ritual

Pōneke based band Mirror Ritual have made it to all corners of the country in 2023 with their signature techno etherealism. Formerly known as Transistor, Mirror Ritual have been together since 2016, using the time lockdowns to make new music and reconfigure their image.

deepState

deepState aka Jessica Morgan is a producer based in Tāmaki Makaurau. Her high energy DJ sets explore the nuances of House, Electronica, Jungle, Garage and Breakbeat. She released her debut album Dreams in September to critical acclaim.

Junior Junior

Emerging Auckland based four-piece band Junior Junior pulls their influences from indie rock, to jazz and R&B. The band just released their highly-anticipated Debut EP In the Light in October 2023.

Baby Zionov

Baby Zionov is the musical project of Aaliyah Zionov, a musician and songwriter currently based in Tāmaki Makaurau. Baby Zionov's music takes influence from 90's happy hardcore, 70's space disco, and vintage 16-bit video game soundtracks.

The Cross Street Music Festival is organised by Anya Vitali. She says, “K’Rd is truly the rock n roll heart of the CBD. It's the perfect place for people to come and celebrate our uniqueness and see some acts that won’t be underground for long”.

Even more artists will be announced for the 2024 Cross Street Music Festival soon.
