Tamaki Makaurau’s pacific-pop extraordinaire and double Taite Music Prize nominee Erny Belle releases her highly anticipated sophomore album Not Your Cupid — out now via Flying Nun Records.
Says Belle on the release of Not Your Cupid, “I didn’t think this was all possible. It feels like a fever dream! Roundhead Studios is such a luscious space and we all worked together with an unspoken synergy that felt very predestined. I’m grateful for the love everyone poured in. I laughed myself to death. Thank you to my band - Tiare Kelly, Jackson Hobbs, Dave Khan, Rewi McLay and Navakatoa Tekela-Pule. Thanks to De Stevens (A force of nature), who mixed, engineered and co-produced the record. Thanks, Semisi Ma’ia’i for co-piloting the vocal production. A dream come true.”
New album single/video, Inertia is unveiled alongside the release.
Listen/Watch Inertia
Bass player Navakatoa Tekela-Pule, penned the guitar for Inertia. To Belle, the song captures the sense of being stuck, yearning for momentum and growth, with nothing to hold onto except hope—a true
rollercoaster of life. In the corresponding video, crafted by Erny Belle and Matt Hunter, Belle immerses herself in haunting dreams set within theme parks. The eerie yet captivating atmosphere unfolds most intriguingly, leaving a sense
of unsettlement. Compelled to ride the Log Flume and Gold Rush repeatedly, Belle weaves together a uniquely strange and enthralling experience.
