Celine is an indie noise-rock trio from Auckland. Originally active in the mid 90’s, the band was formed by songwriter, singer/guitarist Rob Lundon and drummer Andrew Moon. Darren Binder joined on bass, who was later replaced by Rachael King.
Celine became part of the scene of alternative, like-minded rock groups, supporting local luminaries Bailterspace and The 3Ds, and international touring acts Pavement and The Lemonheads.
The band re-grouped in 2019 to record new music, collaborating with guitarist David H H Coventry. Following their debut 2022 EP, The Last Days of Evolution, Celine will soon release a new self-titled vinyl EP mixed by New York based engineer Andrew Schneider, and mastered by Bob Weston in Chicago.
The recordings reflect the band’s shared love of outsider melancholic pop, 90’s noise rock and golden era Flying Nun, and pairs their signature noisy pop songcraft with exacting sonic heft, played with conviction at amplifier-worship volume.
Celine has also returned to the local live scene, with original member Rob Lundon and two new members, bassist Kirsten Smith and drummer Marty Doo.
Celine's new single Field Res is short and sharp, but beautiful. Short for Field Research, the song reflects on the grinding aspects of life, and the moments early on – good or bad – which got you to that place.
A music video for Field Res will be released alongside the EP.
