London based Kiwi songstress Kylie Price releases her latest single In The Crowd on Friday 8th December. In The Crowd is a pop ballad navigating the intricate emotions that come at the end of a relationship, exploring the concept of growing up and reminiscing about a person you don’t always forget. Country-Pop has been on the rapid rise in the charts, and Kylie Price is the next big New Zealand star for this genre.
Keeping true to her ever-present acoustic guitar and heavy vocals, In The Crowd is penned by Price and Duncan Brookfield, and is the first release from Price’s new catalogue. Music from Kylie Price falls somewhere in between deeply emotional lyricism and appealing hooks, making for a sound that feels introspective, yet easy to relate to.
Price comments, “In The Crowd is a personal story for me, a grieving of relationships that don’t last and learning to live with the constant reminder of what has irreversibly changed. It was a privilege to work with Duncan Brookfield in London on this track, and to now be back in Aotearoa for the release is very exciting!”
Filmed by Henry Croston and assistant Liam Donald, the music video for In The Crowd is a visual diary of the ever changing scenes of London, much like the seasons of emotions in one’s life. Depictions of a reflective state of loneliness contrast with vivid movements of busy central London. The In The Crowd music video begins with the image of St Dunstan’s in the East on an early Sunday morning – an ode to the quiet grey tones of Central London. Shots of Kylie on the DLR train and walking through the quiet tunnels of the Underground depict a reflective state of loneliness that contrasts vivid movements of the busy look out over London from Greenwich.
Evolving her career from Singer-Songwriter Country to the Pop world has been a successful move for Price. With the release of her single Perfect reaching #6 on the Official NZ Music Charts, this was followed with her second single Stay reaching #5 on the same platform. Currently working with producers on her music in London, Price is continuing to push the boundaries as both an Artist and Songwriter.
Price will showcase new music at her sold-out show on Saturday 9th December at Moons, Dunedin. This follows sold out shows in London at venues such as Green Note, Camden Chapel and The Slaughtered Lamb.
